What the Myrtle Beach market actually looks like.
The tourism numbers are what everyone quotes about Myrtle Beach, and they hide the more interesting business. Horry County has about 383,000 permanent residents and has been one of the fastest growing counties in South Carolina for a decade. Those people need dentists, roofers, pest control, and somebody to fix the air conditioning in July. That demand does not go home in September, and it is far less contested than anything pointed at visitors.
You can see the split in the click prices. "Restaurants myrtle beach" gets 2,300 searches a month and advertisers pay three cents for the click, because visitor traffic is enormous and nearly worthless per head. "HVAC myrtle beach" gets a hundred searches and advertisers pay twelve dollars, because a hundred people with a broken system in a coastal climate is real money. Pest control sits at five hundred searches a month, which is what happens when a whole county lives near marshland. The resident economy is the one with margin in it.
Local SEO is search engine optimization aimed at one place instead of the whole country, and the method behind it is the same everywhere we work. We wrote it out in full on our local search engine optimization page. This page is about what is different in Myrtle Beach.
What we found when we scored Horry County.
Myrtle Beach sits in Horry County. In February 2026 we pulled 823 Google Business Profiles across Horry County and scored every one on how complete the profile is and how ready it is for AI search. These are the results of our own audit, not an industry estimate.
The gap between those two middle numbers is the whole story. A typical Horry County business has a profile that looks fine to a person and reads badly to a machine. 65 of them, 8 percent, scored above 70 on the profile and below 50 on AI readiness, which is the exact pattern we flagged as at-risk statewide.
Not one business in Horry County earned an A for AI search readiness. Neither did any of the 11,534 we scored across South Carolina.
By category, pediatricians are the weakest here, averaging 47 across the 48 we scored. Roofing Contractors are the strongest at 68.3 across 18, and even that is a C.
The full methodology, the county rankings, and every business we scored are published at research.louislynnco.com. We did not commission this from anyone. We ran it.

Three things that are different about ranking here.
Local SEO is the same discipline in every market. What changes is which part of it decides the outcome, and in Myrtle Beach, SC it is these three.
People here drop the state
Almost everywhere else in South Carolina, customers type the city and the state. Here they do not: "plumber myrtle beach" gets 200 searches a month and "plumber myrtle beach sc" gets 30. The city name is unambiguous nationally, so nobody bothers. Optimizing for the phrasing that works in Greenville leaves most of the demand on the table here.
The Grand Strand is not one place
North Myrtle Beach, Surfside, Murrells Inlet, Conway, Little River, and Socastee return their own results and residents identify with them strongly. Sixty miles of coast under one brand name is a geography problem, and a single Myrtle Beach page covers a fraction of it.
Seasonality changes when you start, not whether
Local search takes months to move, so work started in the shoulder season is what pays during the peak. The mistake we see in resort markets is starting in June, when results land right as the season ends. Winter is the correct time to build.
Who this is built for in Myrtle Beach.

- Property managers and rental operators competing for both owner acquisition and guest bookings
- Restaurants, attractions, and lodging fighting for visitor search from Ocean Boulevard to North Myrtle
- Healthcare, dental, and specialty practices serving a large and fast growing retiree population
- Contractors and suppliers working the residential construction that county growth keeps producing
